Small link in the chain
The Maltese cross is a well-known symbol. However, not only it stands for an aid organisation or various Christian fraternities, but since 1880 it also symbolises the Geneva watch manufactory Vacheron Constantin. For their own company logo they were inspired by a small component: the cover of the spring cabinet. In the past its purpose was to control the tension of the main spring and improved the precise operation of the watches.
Around 170 employees, among these 80 watchmakers and watchmaker craftsmen, are working in the headquarters in Plan-les-Ouates. Since 1755 Vacheron Constantin manufactures precision running mechanisms and artistic watches, the most production steps manually and in small quantities. For this they need intuition, the sight of an eagle, calm hands and an appropriate working environment. Therefore all workplaces are especially made for the manufactory.
BZ Plankenhorn supplied around 231 workplaces so far. In the headquarters the table tops of the workbenches are made of light Canadian maple, ergonomically shaped and fitted with movable armrests. All tables are electrically height adjustable. Furthermore to each table a footrest and an air extraction is fitted as well as lockable drawers in the containers which are mounted on both sides. And also the company logo appears again: One half of the Maltese cross decorates the surface of the table as an inlay in light wood.
